Depeche Mode - Spirit (Improved Album Cover)

Description

This is probably the first time in a long while, since I did my FOE:Project Horizons Project, that I've actually worked on a graphic, and of one that was already made!

So I made a quick little complaint about the cover art to Depeche Mode's new album in my review of said album, saying that it looked like a 5 minute photoshop job, so I decided to take it upon myself to improve the aspects that I didn't like. For one thing, It really irked me that the 'splash' of depeche mode didn't streak across the length of the cover, so I increased the size of it in order for it to do so, which also centered the band name along with it. Next, I wanted the flags and the feet to jut from the splash of the depeche mode, rather than have them float nonsensically above or below it. I also erased one of the flags, as there were 6 flags but 5 pairs of feet, and moved some of the flags in accordance to where the feet were. Finally, I moved the album title into the top center rather than the top right, and because I removed the biggest flag on there, it was relatively easy to do so. I couldn't replicate the 'bleed' effect that was going on in the text, so I instead did a smudge effect across the text, which honestly looks more striking than it. Overall, while there is a big gape of noise on the top middle part between depeche mode and spirit, the composition doesn't look as uncomfortable and gives the sense that Depeche Mode is 'moving' the so called 'revolution' they want to start so badly, even if I may disagree with it.

and some of you will point to the album cover of Sounds of the Universe as a defense against their cover art, as that was just basically a circle with a bunch of colored sticks, but that cover works because they were doing a unique minimalist approach, not to mention the colors of the sticks are supposed to represent the different pitches of 'sounds' that they make when you bang them across something, as the title of the album suggests. Use this album cover as a substitute if you wish, I personally wanted to put my money where my mouth is and put to task the absolute laziness of the person who made the album cover to begin with. By the way, I ironically listened to DM's Spirit as I worked on their album cover, and it took me roughly an hour to fix all the problems I had with it.
